Sometimes a poet just says it better. Thank you, David Whyte.

Sweet Darkness
When your eyes are tired
the world is tired also.

When your vision is gone
no part of the world can find you.

Time to go into the dark
where the night has eyes
to recognize its own.

There you can be sure
you are not beyond love.

The dark will make a home for you tonight.

The night will give you a horizon
further than you can see.

You must learn one thing.
The world was made to be free in.

Give up all other worlds
except the one to which you belong.

Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn

anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive

is too small for you.

Dear Elizabeth,
He is my favorite poet along with his best friend John O’Donahue, who died much too young.
I was fortunate enough to be in workshops with both of them in Asheville.
This is one of my favorite poems of his and your photographs capture his spirit so beautifully.
Thank you, my friend.

They are both wonderful poets – we did lose John way too soon

Didn’t see this right away since I don’t check ‘social’ every day. Nice, familiar photos and expressive poetry. Thank you! Thank you, E.
We go to Common Ground Fair today & visit grandchildren later. Tomorrow we’re off to NH for a baby shower! oxox. t
