“Louie, get up! The green machine is on the move. Let’s go watch”

“I see it Styx. Looks like our favorite human is on it.”

“Yup, dat’s her.”

“What in the world is she doing? Something is following her really closely.”
“Looks like there are two of dem.”

“From the lovely fragrance, it appears she is flinging our muffins into the air.”

Good lord, the other one is driving! Dis could be disastrous. Lookit her hoof!”
“I say we return to the essential business of masticating the field.”

With the manure spreading finished, for the morning, a safari in the field in the golf cart was in order. The ever-curious boys came to investigate.

“Hey, lemme I drive dis ting?”

“Hey sweetheart ders something wrong wit yer hoof. Do ya need a trim?”

“I know ya love me, but I still wanna drive.”
As you can hear, each of the boys speak differently. Louie is pure New Jersey gangsta and Styx is the erudite British country gentleman.

We return to the barn for chores, with the approval from Styx. As you can tell, we never have fun with these two!

Maybe we should reword the phrase “dog days of summer” to “donkey days of summer”!
I looked it up:
What are the official dog days of summer?
The “dog days of summer” is a phrase used to describe the hot and humid days of summer. It can be traced back thousands of years to the days of the Roman Empire. It refers to the dates from July 03 through August 11, which is 20 days prior and 20 days after the star Sirius rises and falls in conjunction with the sun.

Oh my goodness – this is exactly why I started the donkey stories! It was too hot in the afternoons to do anything outside.
I love that you researched the ‘dog days.’ Styx and Louie really enjoyed your comment.
