BEAUTY

“Some people

No matter how old they get,

never lose their beauty-

they merely move it from their faces into their heart”

Martin Buxbaum

I have known these women for over twenty years. We forged, over time, a friendship based on exploring the deeper truths of our lives. When I entered my sixth decade, I sought them out as guides for that uncharted territory.

Over the years, as I listened to their stories, I gazed upon their faces and couldn’t help but see the beauty and individuality they embodied. I finally convinced them to allow me to photograph them and they have given me permission to share these images.

As I have aged, I have come to an uneasy truce with my wrinkles and body. My parental legacy is mom’s Santa belly and my dad’s skinny arms dripping with baggy skin!

My life, like everyone, has been an experience of both rough seas and calm, sweet water. I see our life story etched in the lines of our faces. I admire those lines in others and they help me come to terms with my own.

My best hope is that I can do what the above poem suggested and cultivate a beautiful, kind heart.

I would love to take more natural light portraits, as my gift to you.

If you are interested, send me an email.
