As events around the world continue to result in collapsing governments, broken agreements and chaos, all I know to do is be thankful for a moment of beauty and share it with my friends. Let yourself rest in a moment of mother nature’s gift.

Speaking of gifts, there is not one more succulent than a Palisade peach in the late summer. As the juice drips down my face, on my hands and shirt, I think of what it took to get this fruit to my kitchen bowl.
The farmer, protecting the spring blossoms from a late frost, the workers who laboriously pick the fruit one piece at a time, to the packers, the truck drivers, to the people selling them from the roadside stands.
I try to remember, when I eat anything, the journey my food took to grace me with its nourishment, and how lucky I am to be able to afford it.
