Daily Mist #158

I lived in Colorado for a year in 1969. Then, 57 years ago, it used to rain each afternoon at two o’clock. The downfall created a lushness that doesn’t exist now on Colorado’s front range.

May these images provide you with a small token of appreciation for moisture. Remember we are mostly water so don’t forget to drink 😊

“Clouds inspire me…. water connects and sustains life.” A comment by Tyler Pedersen*

*Tyler is my brother in spirit: a lover of nature, a photographer and also a poet. Here is a link to a recent blog post:  Lens Artists Challenge #402: Looking Back at Wonder | The ancient eavesdropper

  1. This reminds me of a poem or prayer depending on the way you think of it. Google attributes it to Alice Corbin Henderson and this is the version they quote:

The silver rain, the shining sun,
The fields where scarlet poppies run,
And all the ripples of the wheat
Are in the bread that I do eat.
So when I sit at every meal
And say a grace, I always feel
That I am eating rain and sun,
And fields where scarlet poppies run.

The version we use as gratitude for a meal is:

The silver rain, the shining sun,
The fields where scarlet poppies run,
And all the ripples in the wheat
Are in the food that we shall eat.
So as we gather for our meal
And say our blessing, we can feel
That we are eating rain and sun,
And fields where scarlet poppies run.
