Living in Space 3/19/25

I watched the astronauts exit the capsule after 9 months on the space station. The capsule splashed down in the ocean and was lifted onto a ship specially designed for that purpose.  The commentator talked about the odor of the tight space, especially over time, and mentioned how it must be to smell the sweet, salty air of the ocean again. Their experiences would be life changing in a way I can’t even imagine.

As their smiling, but very pale faces emerged, I thought about all the sensations I would miss if I lived in the conditions of outer space.

Imagine months without………….

clouds, pastures, ocean tides

the warmth of sunshine on your skin

a gentle breeze on a hot day

the magic of snow

the sound of rain on a metal roof

the sound of a mountain river in a canyon

The songs of birds

I spent today appreciating the delights of living on earth.
